Saudi Arabia Announces Innovative Stadium on Mountain Peak: A New Era in Sports and Tourism

Saudi Arabia has embarked on a groundbreaking project: the construction of an exceptional sports stadium perched atop the 200-meter high Tuwaiq mountain. This ambitious endeavor, named after Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is part of the nation’s strategy to boost both domestic and international tourism.

Located in the emerging city of Qiddiya, merely 40 minutes from Riyadh, the stadium is set to redefine the experience of sports and cultural events. The Saudi Press Agency quotes the Qiddiya Investment Company, detailing the stadium’s design that promises unparalleled technologies and versatility, catering to a wide array of major sports, entertainment, and cultural events in Saudi Arabia.

This unique stadium is not just a marvel of architecture but also a catalyst for economic growth. It is expected to attract football enthusiasts and visitors worldwide, enhancing tourism and creating thousands of jobs. With an annual projection of 1.8 million visits for football and 6 million for other activities, it signifies a substantial boost to the national economy.

Besides hosting local clubs Al Nassr and Al Hilal, the stadium is a potential venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s growing prominence in global sports. Its innovative design allows swift transformation for varied events like rugby, boxing, mixed martial arts, e-sports tournaments, exhibitions, and major concerts.

This development follows Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s recent announcement of Qiddiya’s urban plan and global brand, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s vision to elevate Riyadh among the top ten city economies globally.
