The Mysterious Bird Discovered in Southern Saudi Arabia

In a strange video that circulated among Saudis on social media in the past few hours, a resident from the Khamis Mushait area in the Aseer region of southern Saudi Arabia can be seen discussing his discovery of a unique bird.

Many viewers were left wondering about the identity of this bird, questioning whether it’s a rare species or not.

It has been named the “Bustard Bird” or, colloquially, the “Shepherds’ Entertainer.” What sets this bird apart is its peculiar behavior, often appearing as if it’s sick or unable to fly.

Despite some describing this bird as “rare” in the comments, it’s believed to be the Houbara Bustard.

These birds are usually a pale color and are known for their rare nocturnal behavior.

The National Center for Wildlife in Saudi Arabia has confirmed that the bird in the video is indeed one of the known species of Bustards.

There is a diversity of Bustard species throughout the Kingdom, including migratory and resident types found in various regions of the country.

The Houbara Bustard, in particular, is known for its small legs, long and pointed wings, and its soft, colorful plumage that often resembles tree bark or leaves.

These birds are known for their habit of perching on branches and staying out of sight during the day.

Houbara Bustards are found across the world and come in various species.

If you happen to encounter a Bustard bird and it seems to be displaying unusual behavior, it is likely part of their survival strategy to remain inconspicuous during the daytime.
