Twitter Introduces Video Download for Twitter Blue Subscribers, Giving More Control Over Content Sharing

Twitter has announced the availability of a new feature that allows Twitter Blue subscribers to download videos posted on the platform, according to Twitter’s official website, verified account holders can start downloading their posted videos from July 25th of the current year, enabling them to watch the content offline without the need for an internet connection or remixing it to create new content.

Twitter clarified that publishers can choose to disable the option to download their videos if they wish, and videos uploaded before July 25th, 2023, will not be available for download, the new feature also comes with age restrictions, limiting its usage to Twitter users who are 18 years old or older.

Users have the option to prevent others from downloading their videos in individual tweets after posting them, Twitter Blue subscribers can download available videos by opening the video, tapping the three dots at the top of the screen, and selecting “Download Video.”

It’s worth noting that Twitter Blue subscribers can also upload longer videos, with a maximum duration of up to two hours, whereas regular users’ video length is limited to 140 seconds per video.

It remains uncertain whether Twitter will extend this feature to other regular users who are not subscribed to any paid plans in the future.

Other social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok already offer direct video download capabilities to users, eliminating the need for external applications or websites for downloading content onto their devices.
