Twitter Unveils Bold New Logo Featuring the Letter ‘X’: Elon Musk and CEO Linda Yaccarino Announce Rebranding Efforts

Elon Musk and Twitter’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, announced today on Monday the new logo for the social media platform, which features the letter “X” in white on a black background, replacing the familiar blue bird logo that has been associated with Twitter since its inception in 2006.

Yaccarino, following Musk’s style of tweeting, said, “X has arrived! Let’s do this”, She shared an image of the new logo, displayed at Twitter’s offices in San Francisco, California, USA.

With the logo change campaign underway, hashtags such as #GoodbyeTwitter and #TwitterX have become popular on the platform, leading to a divided response among users: some welcoming the new logo, while others are critical.

Musk had tweeted yesterday, Sunday, expressing his intention to change Twitter’s logo and sought the opinions of millions of followers on whether they preferred changing the site’s color scheme from blue to black, he posted an image of the letter “X” blinking in white on a black background, stating his desire to change Twitter’s logo and tweeting, “And so we say goodbye to the Twitter brand, and gradually all the birds.”

It is worth noting that a team of three individuals designed the blue bird logo, and one of the designers, Martin Graser, tweeted, saying, “The logo was designed to be simple, balanced, and legible even in very small sizes, similar to a small lowercase ‘e’.”

Musk, who acquired Twitter late last October for $44 billion, has repeatedly emphasized his plan to make Twitter a comprehensive platform, similar to the Chinese service WeChat, earlier this year, he changed the name of Twitter’s business to “X Corp” or simply “X.”

Yaccarino reaffirmed this vision yesterday, stating, “X is the future state of unlimited interaction, centered around voice, video, messages, and payments/banking services, creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities, supported by artificial intelligence, X will connect us all in ways we are just beginning to imagine.”

As part of the comprehensive changes, Twitter’s official address, in addition to the current twitter.com, has become x.com.

Musk purchased the domain x.com in 2017 from the payment company PayPal, stating that it holds “emotional value”, he was involved in founding x.com as an online bank in 1999, which later evolved into PayPal.
