Saudi Arabia Unveils First AI-Powered Electric Security Vehicle by Lucid at World Defense Show 2024

The Saudi Ministry of Interior showcased a groundbreaking development in security technology at the World Defense Show 2024, in collaboration with Lucid Motors, they introduced the first electric security vehicle equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, manufactured within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this vehicle is designed to enhance security measures by utilizing AI systems for monitoring security violations and recognizing traffic law violators and wanted individuals through advanced facial recognition using 6 integrated cameras.

Features and Capabilities

The vehicle is not only equipped with AI technologies for identifying vehicle license plates and analyzing behavior through facial expressions but also possesses the ability to analyze data and communicate with command and control centers, this significantly boosts security levels and traffic safety, additionally, the vehicle includes a drone on its roof capable of flying to capture footage in criminal situations, such as shooting incidents, thus gathering essential data for patrol units.

Local Manufacturing

The AI-powered electric security vehicle is produced at Lucid’s manufacturing plant, inaugurated in December of the previous year in King Abdullah Economic City, Jeddah, Lucid aims to produce 5,000 vehicles annually, with plans to scale up to manufacturing 155,000 electric vehicles per year, this initiative aligns with the Saudi Green Initiative, launched by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in 2021, the initiative seeks to engage all societal sectors in sustainability efforts and accelerate climate action in the Kingdom.

World Defense Show 2024 Highlights

The World Defense Show 2024, organized by the Saudi General Authority for Military Industries, emphasizes the integration of air, land, sea, satellite, and cybersecurity systems under one roof, providing an ideal environment for networking, innovation, and encouraging companies, the second edition of the show features over 750 exhibitors from more than 75 countries and 115 delegations, showcasing the latest in defense technology and innovation.
