Threads by Meta Gets Enhanced Web Features, Including Post Quoting

Instagram’s Head (Adam Mosseri) announced on Thursday that the text-based social media platform, “Threads,” now supports “quoting” posts on the web.

Threads was launched earlier in July with the aim of competing with “X,” the new official name for Twitter, which has faced considerable turmoil since billionaire (Elon Musk) acquired it late last October for $44 billion.

Despite its simple launch and the absence of many features offered by X, Threads achieved tremendous success, attracting more than 100 million sign-ups in its first week.

Since Threads’ launch, Meta, the parent company, has been keen on adding new features almost every week, in August, they introduced a long-awaited web version.

However, the web version of Threads was missing a crucial feature: the ability to quote posts, as itt only allowed users to repost without adding comments, o quote a post, users can now click on the double-arrow icon and select the “quote” option.

Mosseri also mentioned that Threads users on mobile devices can now easily follow a series of posts and receive notifications when a new post is added to the series.

Threads, often described as an “Instagram app,” has received several updates in recent days, including a feature to block sensitive topics and a post search feature.

Threads can be downloaded for Android devices from the Google Play Store and for iOS devices from Apple’s App Store, it is also accessible via the web.
