This season, Liverpool has struggled to maintain their usual high standards. Although there have been flashes of brilliance, they currently look set to qualify for the Europa League positions only. Additionally, they will finish the season without any silverware, which will not be remembered fondly after coming so close to the quadruple last season.

Klopp is aware that his team needs major changes this summer, and his priority is to improve the midfield. His side has frequently been overrun in that department this season, and four midfield options are set to leave Anfield when the current campaign ends. Therefore, Klopp is prepared to spend heavily to freshen up the midfield.

The departure of James Milner has already been confirmed, and Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Arthur Melo will also leave Anfield. However, Liverpool is reportedly close to signing three other top midfield targets: Mason Mount, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch. The Reds are confident that they can seal the signings of all three by early July.

Mount, a long-term target of Klopp, is reportedly unlikely to renew his deal at Chelsea. Although his contract is set to expire in summer 2024, talks over a renewal have hit a snag. Todd Boehly, the Chelsea owner, is reportedly willing to sanction his sale for a fee of £70 million, which Liverpool is willing to pay. Klopp is also reportedly interested in signing Mac Allister, who is enjoying an outstanding season at Brighton.

Liverpool is also confident about signing Gravenberch, who has struggled for game time since leaving Ajax last summer. Bayern Munich is reportedly ready to sell the 20-year-old for just £25 million, and Liverpool is willing to pay that amount.

The new-look Liverpool midfield will give Klopp a dynamic new thrust for next season, with the injection of talent that has been lacking this season. It remains to be seen how these potential signings will affect Liverpool’s performance in the upcoming season.
