WWE NXT Results (October 10, 2023): The Undertaker Returns, with the participation of John Cena, Cody Rhodes, and L.A. Knight

WWE NXT show on October 10, 2023 was a star-studded event, with appearances from legends like The Undertaker and John Cena, as well as rising stars like Carmelo Hayes and Bron Breakker. Cody Rhodes took over as the manager of NXT for the night and announced a number of surprises, including L.A. Knight serving as the special referee for an exciting match. All of these events were likely due to the fact that AEW Dynamite aired at the same time as NXT, so both shows were trying to give their best effort to win over viewers.

WWE NXT Highlights

Cody Rhodes opened the NXT show with three major announcements:

  1. The return of the NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament.
  2. The return of Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
  3. Cody Rhodes himself would be the General Manager of NXT for the night.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov then entered the ring to welcome Cody Rhodes, but they were interrupted by the entrance of Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley. A verbal altercation ensued between the two parties, and Cody eventually announced a match between Dragunov and Mysterio for the NXT Championship, with L.A. Knight serving as the special referee for the match.

First Match: Asuka defeated Roxanne Perez.

Second Match: Butch, Ridge Holland, and Tyler Bate defeated Gallus.

John Cena appeared in the ring and was met with a warm reception from the fans. He expressed his gratitude to them and said that he was proud to be with them that night. However, Bron Breakker interrupted Cena’s speech and told him that the fans didn’t come to see him. Cena responded by saying that Breakker is a talented wrestler with a muscular build, but he lacks respect. Breakker then attacked Cena, but Cena was able to repel his attack.

Third Match: Ilja Dragunov retained the NXT title by defeating Dominik Mysterio with LA Knight as special referee.

Backstage, Carmelo Hayes thanked John Cena for coming to NXT. Trick Williams then joined them and welcomed Cena as well. Cena told them that they would both return to the top again.

At the end of the scene, Trick Williams seemed upset with Carmelo Hayes and asked John Cena, “When did you know it was your time?” This indicates that Trick Williams wants to be at the forefront and not just follow Carmelo Hayes.

Paul Heyman appeared in video talking about The Bloodline with Ava Raine, “The Rock’s Daughter.”

Fourth Match: Lola Vice defeated Dani Palmer in the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.

Backstage, Paul Heyman approached Bron Breakker and told him that he had worked with his father (Rick Steiner) and his uncle (Scott Steiner), and that he now sees Bron as the future. Heyman warned Bron that the only obstacle in his way is Carmelo Hayes. Bron replied that he doesn’t care who he faces, whether it’s Carmelo or John Cena, he will destroy them all. Bron then left, and Paul Heyman called Roman Reigns, sounding thrilled with what Bron had said.

Fifth Match: Carmelo Hayes defeated Bron Breakker in the main event.

After the Match, Bron attacked Carmelo and knocked him down with a spear. Suddenly, Undertaker’s music bell rang, and he appeared as American Badass.

Undertaker spoke to Bron and told him that he had been following him for a long time and that he would become a big star in the future, but not now. He then punched Bron in the face and executed a Chokeslam on him.

After the live broadcast of the show ended, Carmelo Hayes and Undertaker left the hall togather to great cheers from the fans.

Next week on WWE NXT

  1. Dijak, Baron Corbin, and Carmelo Hayes will compete in a triple threat match to determine who will face Ilja Dragunov for the NXT title at the NXT Halloween Havoc show.
  2. A battle royal match will be held to determine who will face Tony D’Angelo and Stacks for the NXT tag team titles at the NXT Halloween Havoc show.
  3. Tegan Nox Vs. Laira Valkyrie.
