Major General Mohamed Al-Bendari, the Secretary-General of the Red Sea Governorate, held a final coordination meeting to announce the first military museum in the waters of the governorate, this museum is the first of its kind in Egypt and Africa and will combine the first three alternative diving sites in Hurghada.

The meeting was attended by Kamal Suleiman, Assistant Secretary-General, and Brigadier General Tamer Samir, Head of the Central Office for the Governor’s Affairs, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Red Sea Protectorates, and civil society.

After several years of planning, the Red Sea Governorate is set to launch three alternative diving sites in Hurghada to preserve the natural coral reefs in the governorate, these sites are located off the coast of the Red Sea Governorate.

The selected sites are among the most crowded areas, so the idea was to relieve the pressure on the naturally existing coral reefs and create new coral reefs, this unforgettable experience will combine the charm of history with the beauty of the marine environment in the Red Sea Governorate.

The Secretary-General of the Governorate, Major General Mohamed Al-Bendari, explained that diving in the clear waters around military artifacts is a unique underwater experience.

Visitors can also discover hidden treasures under the water, alongside marine creatures that are attracted to these military relics, and enjoy witnessing the fusion of history with nature.

He further pointed out that the area is also of historical significance, enabling diving enthusiasts to explore military equipment that played a decisive role in Egypt’s military history, each displayed military piece narrates a powerful story of bravery and sacrifice.

It is planned to sink 15 military artifacts in three locations in the Red Sea, including “Sha’ab Al-Skala, ‘Aroug Al-Taweel, and ‘Araq Jamea Bimogawish.”

This will create a sense of new diving sites in Hurghada, displaying the Egyptian military history.

The HIPCA Association will participate in the sinking operations and perform all necessary attachments around the pre-determined locations, the event is scheduled to be celebrated next Thursday at Marina El Gouna.
