يحتار العديد من طلاب اللغة الإنجليزية في استخدامات حروف الجر In / on / at وبالخصوص مع الأماكن، ولهذا نقدم لكم اليوم توضيحًا الفرق بينهم.
- In : تستخدم بمعنى(في داخل) مع الأماكن مثل الدول والمدن والمباني والغرف.. إلخ
- At : تستخدم بمعنى( في أو عند نقطة محددة) مثل موقف الأتوبيس ومحطة القطار.. إلخ
- On : تستخدم بمعنى (على سطح ما) مثل الحوائط- المنضدة- السقف أو الأرض الخ
مثال:
I met Mohammed in Cairo; he was at the bus stop looking at a painting on the wall.
قابلت محمد في القاهرة عند محطة القطار بينما كان ينظر إلى لوحة على الحائط.

- Do you live in Alexandria?
- The author’s name is on the cover of the book.
- There are no prices on this menu.
- There was a “no smoking” sign on the wall.
